I've had a very Chicago week so far. Last night I was swinging by the Sears Tower to pick up a friend. Tonight I went with a different friend to a book signing by Margaret Atwood. Doesn't that make me sound like such an urbanite?

The signing was good. She first read three selections from her new book, "Oryx and Crake." The reviews I've read make it sound like a dystopian warning about the dangerous evils of bioengineering. Her comments at the reading seemed a little more moderate than that, but the sections she read sounded just as preachy as I expected. Her narrative sounded great - poetic. I was a little less sure about the dialogue.

But anyway, that's me.

Books: Things are moving faster on this end of the book, as I expected. It's more about timeline and flow now. That's good and bad. Good.... means not a lot of tight revisions. Bad.... means lots of new transitions and figuring out where to stick in important new bits of information.
