Woohoo! I've been trying to express to people how totally awesome the police blotter in the local paper here is. And now it is online for the whole world to see.
My favorite for today:
* A man on West Villard Street saw someone trying to steal his brother's vehicle. He hit the person in the face while trying to get him out of the vehicle.
But don't miss this gem of passive-aggressive reporting. These stats are included in the paper on a regular basis, and they never change much:
The inmate population at the Gallatin County jail included the following:
* The jail held 56 inmates.
* An additional 26 inmates were being held at other jails at the cost of $55 per inmate per day, plus transportation costs.
* The maximum operating capacity of the jail is 39 inmates.
Can you tell a new jail is a hotbutton issue around here?
