Pictures from my roadtrip to Laramie WY on Labor Day weekend 2004:

On the road again... I got a late start, so the sunset kept me company and I didn't arrive until midnight-ish.

This the little guy the weekend was all about - Caleb, my nephew.

He was being given a name and a blessing that Sunday at church. Here he is in his cute little outfit made by his maternal grandma out of material from his mother's wedding dress. Lots of family members showed up to celebrate.

Here he is with his Mom and Dad. Her shirt was slick and his little satin outfit was too - apparently he nearly got dropped that morning. Good thing his dad is quick.

And speaking of Eric being a good dad - I love this little snapshot because it reminds me of how good he was getting at doing everything one-handed, and Caleb happily just went along for the ride.

As soon as we got the family portrait everything turned casual - here my brother and sister-in-law are finishing off the coconut cream pie.

And you can see where Eric learned to take care of babies.

Eric and Julia have a fairly small apartment, and both of them have more than two siblings. This means we were all packed in there pretty tight. I had to get this shot of too many cooks in the kitchen.

We weren't done with the pictures, even though nobody was dressed up anymore. Here we have the happy grandpas.

And the happy grandmas (with Caleb looking a little tired of all the posing).

Then the cousins had to have a turn.

And they're just so cute...

Then everyone just settled in for a chatty afternoon, making the best of few chairs and not much floor space.

I played Scrabble with my sister (left) my mother (right) and my sister-in-law's father (top). The table was occupied by a game of Rook, so we made a table out of the portable crib.

You know she's a new mom because she and the kid managed to sleep through all of this - right on the couch in the middle of everything.

That evening we went over to my sister Linnaea's house. She lives in Cheyenne, about 45 minutes away from Laramie. Julia's family stayed back at her apartment, but we still managed to fill up the house pretty well. (The little one walking around is Mia - don't kid yourself, she owns the place.)

And the day ended with icecream and a movie with Grandma and Grandpa. What more can you ask for? (There's a long story about why Trevor gets a TV in his room. His mother assured me it was temporary.)
